OBITUARY

Robert Wayne Vogt

October 10, 1942 – June 9, 2021
Obituary of Robert Wayne Vogt
IN THE CARE OF

West Resthaven Funeral Home & Resthaven Park Cemetery

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Robert Wayne Vogt (Bob), devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He passed away peacefully on June 9, 2021. Born October 10, 1942, in Marshall, Minnesota to parents Elsie (Silberstein) and Elmer Vogt; he is survived by wife of 55 years, Karole (Hansen), daughter Kirsten, son-in-law Jeff Coury of Glendale, Arizona, granddaughters Galadriel, Guenevere and Genevieve, sister Audrey Miller (Kenneth) of Balaton, Minnesota and brother Randy of Albert Lea, Minnesota in addition to numerous friends that will always count themselves as family.

Robert graduated from Mankato State College in 1965 and began a long career in education, starting as a librarian in Spring Valley, MN. He moved on to Valley High School in Las Vegas, NV and then received his Master’s in Library Science from the University of Washington. In 1969 he received a contract from the Parkrose school district in suburban Portland, OR. He was the librarian at Parkrose Heights Jr High and then Parkrose High School, retiring in 1999. While there he touched hundreds of lives, both students and staff, leaving a lasting impression on many. One achievement of which he was very proud was the work with the Multnomah County library system to open a cooperative library at the high school.

Upon retirement, Bob and Kay became snowbirds, spending half the year in Portland and half in Peoria, Arizona to be closer to family. In 2008 they made the move to Arizona permanent settling in Prescott Valley and Peoria. The final move was in 2013 when they were fortunate to move to a large property in Glendale to allow for intergenerational care, something from which the entire family benefited.

There will be no services at this time, with a celebration of life (party) to follow in the winter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to Hospice of the Valley (hov.org/donate), OCJKids (ocjkids.org/donate), and/or a local charity of your choice.
