With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Roger Wayne Kerber, age 75, a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He passed away peacefully in his home, with his family by his side, in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday, March 3, 2019, after months of failing health. He was born on August 4, 1943 to Delbert Kerber and Alisa Paige Fleck, who preceded him in death.
Roger was an Air Force Veteran and attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant upon his retirement of 23 years. He met the love of his life in Thailand during his time in the Vietnam War and enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage before he passed from his earthly home. He is survived by his wife, Samrahn “Nikki” Kerber, his three daughters and their husbands/significant other, Jantra Palmer, Karlene Werner, and Pamela Layton; six grandchildren, Alan, Zachary, Mika, Ty, Kaleb, and Jenna. He is also survived by his sisters and their husbands, Carole Trovato and Deanna Johnson; two nieces, a nephew, and their families, Andrea Almoite, Kelly Miller, and Ryan Johnson.
He was the strong patriarch of his family, a good husband and provider to his wife, a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them through life lessons. Most of all, he loved his family and instilled in his daughters’ their strong life values, that have served them well.
He also loved watching all types of sports on TV, having a drink with a good friend, and sending weekly Fry’s store ads via texts to his daughters. He was a strong, proud, and good man. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Please join us to celebrate his life this Friday, March 15, 2019 from 10:00 am -12:30 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes located at 7924 N. 59th Avenue in Glendale, Arizona. A Freedom Riders’ procession will immediately begin from the funeral home to the National Cemetery of Arizona, located at 23029 N Cave Creek Road, for a military honors gravesite service at 1:30 pm.
