Roy Francisco Villanueva, 71, of Surprise, passed away July 22, 2013. Roy was born Rojelio Francisco Villanueva in Mesa, Arizona in October 1941. A lifelong resident of Arizona, Roy gave back to his community by serving in many public capacities including serving 34 years on the Surprise City Council.
Roy enjoyed serving his community, playing softball, coaching boys and girls baseball and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Rachel, daughters Rachel Villanueva, Rebecca Villanueva-Martinez (Andres), son Roy Villanueva Jr., grandchildren Ryan Villanueva and Vincent Martinez. He is also survived by his brothers Richard, Rene, and Ronnie. Roy was preceded in death by his sisters Rosalina Luque and Rachel Cardenas.
Visitation will be this Sunday from 6-8 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Mass on Monday July 29th at 10:00am. He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery.
