June 27, 1923 - September 22, 2013
Glendale, Arizona - Sally T. Logan passed away this past Sunday, September 22, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. Sally was born in Wailua, Oahu, Hawaii. She was a retired federal civil servant and proud of her service and accomplishments. She was an avid deep sea fisherman in her prime and garnished the coveted 1969 "Fisherman of the Year" Award by the Wailua Boat Club over an all male competition class by catching a record Blue Marlin weighing in at 365 pounds. She battled the monstrous fish for over 6 hours, fatigued, and wanting to give up, but she was motivated by her late husband and skipper, Bill Logan, to continue the fight and eventually landed the huge fish. In her latter years, Sally was an avid "Texas Hold Em" poker player and was known for her savvy playing technique and her signature hats that she loved to wear. She was a Las Vegas tour guide for years and was known to poker players from Georgia to Las Vegas as "Fancy Sally" and was recognized by all when she entered a poker room. She loved the challenge of the cards and invited competition. It was her passion. She had a long and wonderful life and loved her children and all of her grand children dearly. She leaves a void that will only be filled by the many memories and the love she shared with all of us. Rest in peace Sally T.
Sally was the daughter of the late Susanna Acuhido Gomez and Frederico Tandal. She is survived by 2 sisters, Flo and Millie, and 2 brothers, Andy and Stanley. Sally was blessed with a large family and is survived by 3 daughters, Glore and Ray, Ella and Fred, and Theresa and Scott, 3 sons, August Jr. and Susan, Wild and Gina, Rick and Cindy, along with 19 grand children, 30 great grand children, and one dog, Frankie, as well as a multitude of special friends she touched along the way.
Sally's entire family sincerely wishes to express their enormous gratitude to Hospice of the Valley caregivers, especially Mary, Jebbeh, Jan, Kelsey, LeSandra, Mylene, and Maria on the home team, and the PCU teams of Cory and Eileen, Deanna and Lesa, and Mary and Amanda. You were amazing and we appreciate the care and comfort you provided our mother in her last days. Thank you so very much.
