Sandra Kaye “Rocky” Rockyvich 78, of Surprise, Arizona entered into rest on Saturday July 13, 2019. She was born in New Castle, PA on July 16, 1940 and was one of six children of the late Charles and Letha (Vance) Bishop.
Sandy, known to her friends as “Rocky” moved to Phoenix in 1968 and worked for Motorola. In 1971, she took a different career path and joined the Phoenix Police Department as a radio dispatcher until her retirement in 2002. Sandy loved her job and always displayed admiration and respect for the Officers in Blue as well as her fellow dispatchers.
Sandy met and eventually married Charles “Rocky” Rockyvich in 1973, who also worked with the Phoenix Police Department as a night detective up until his retirement.
Besides working, Sandy enjoyed her family, traveling, camping, reading, gambling and also spent many years coaching girls softball. She loved baseball and was so excited when the Diamondbacks came to Arizona. She quickly became an avid Diamondbacks fan attending as many games as she could each season.
Survived by her daughters Cindy, Terri and Jodi, four grand children, six great grand children and many other loving family and friends. She is preceded death by her loving husband of 34 years Charles “Rocky” Rockyvich, her loving son Alan, sisters Eileen, Eloise, Shirley and brothers Edward and Richard.
Mom, we love you and we miss you. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 12:30pm with Funeral Service at 1:30pm at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, Arizona. A Committal Service will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery 6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, Arizona
