Scott Harrison Stirek Born in Berwyn, Illinois June 10th, 1960. He passed from this world into the next on October 13th, 2026 after an incredibly courageous battle with brain cancer and heart failure. He is predeceased by his Mother Doris Ann Robertson, Brother Jeffrey Richard Stirek and Sister Janet Marie Stirek. Scott is survived by his wife Valerie (Born) Stirek, son Benjamin Harrison Stirek both of Phoenix, Arizona. Cousins Craig Cooper of Mesa Arizona and Mark Krejci of Huntley Illinois. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Scott and his family moved to Litchfield Park, AZ when he was 10 years old with his Mother and siblings. Scott attended Litchfield Elementary and Agua Fria High School. During his time at Agua Fria he played on the football team, enjoyed auto mech classes and appeared in drama productions. He was a talented sketch artist and cartoonist. His interest in chemistry led to chemical production jobs in his 20’s then a career with the City of Phoenix which spanned over 33 years. During his time working for the city he held positions in water production, water quality, environmental, pollution control and storm water monitoring until his retirement in November of 2021.
In his personal life he married Valerie (Born) in May of 1988, and welcomed son Benjamin in May of 1993. Scott and his family loved travel, camping, movies, Universal Studios and attending many concerts. Scott enjoyed collecting and working on numerous vehicles over the years, but prized his 1987 Toyota pickup truck. He purchased the truck two days before he met Valerie, and often joked that he still had the same truck and the same wife. He enjoyed dirt bikes and standup comedy. Old West history, doomsday prepping and comic book heroes all interested him. He was a self proclaimed “pizza critic” sampling pizza wherever he went. There was no contest, thin crust Chicago tavern style was his all time favorite. He loved his pets. So many dogs and kitties over the years were extremely fortunate to have him as their pet dad.
His family was his world. Scott was a faithful husband, loving father and a kind friend. Always a jokester and a genuinely funny guy, we will miss his silly songs, his jokes, comments and one liners. He will be greatly missed by so many. Rest in peace, Scotty. We love you more than you will ever know.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of the friends and family who have prayed for Scott over this extremely difficult year and beyond. He was always grateful for all of the prayers and humbled that so many people cared about him. Thanks to the medical staff at Mayo and ALECA hospice for their care and compassion.
