Sharla Ann Higley

Sharla is survived by her husband, John; her children Katie, Kim, John, and Michael; her parents Peggy and Manny; her sister Jacque; her brother Patrick; and many other beloved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents whom she loved dearly, Pat and Earl.

Sharla was most happy spending time with her loving and devoted husband John. Together, they owned a successful automotive repair shop. Whether they were camping, traveling, going to their favorite restaurants, or just hanging out at home, they were the light of each other’s lives. He loved her, and she knew it.

Sharla raised four exceptionally smart and kind children. She showed them what it meant to be responsible, compassionate, hardworking, and how to enjoy life.

Sharla also devoted over 25 years of her life to educating students at Challenger School in Glendale, Arizona. With her Master’s Degree, she served as a teacher and an academic achievement advisor.

Sharla had a passion for reading that was contagious. She passed her love for reading onto her family, friends, colleagues, and most importantly, her students. She was known for her ability to love unconditionally and still tell you what you needed to hear. Countless educators have expressed Sharla’s lasting impact on their personal and professional lives. Challenger School is honoring Sharla with a lasting memory in the school library.

A Celebration of Life Sharing & Reception will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 North 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, on June 20, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
