

Takisha Tawnia Phillips departed this life on Monday, May 2, 2022 and was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 42. She was the beloved daughter of the late Bruce Allen Phillips, Sr. and JoAnn Thomas Phillips King, devoted mother to Nyassah Thomas, Fulani Thomas, Malik Thomas and Jamaias Bruce Phillips and the late Jacqui Thomas. She was also a sister of Bruce Allen Phillips, Jr. (Lydia) and Dionne Myers, niece of Joy T. Darden, Rudolph Thomas, Jr., Debra T. Selmon, Collins Phillips, Jr. (Shelia), Lisa Phillips and great-niece of Brenda Wilson Leonard, Patricia Smith and Deorsie Watson.
Takisha was baptized at the age of seven at Branch Bell Baptist Church of New Orleans, Louisiana. She was raised with the knowledge and love of Christ and loved the Lord with all her heart. She attended Trevor Browne High School. She went on to attend Phoenix College. She was employed as an Accounting Clerk by American Express. Throughout her career she touched many lives and loved every person she encountered. Everyone that knew her knew she was a fun-loving person with an infectious smile that would brighten any room. She had a giving heart and would give you her last without question.
Her selfless acts of love, kindness and generosity extended beyond many, but especially to her family, whom she loved unconditionally. She was not only a great cook but someone who nurtured and provided emotional support to her family and those she cared about and loved.
She loved sports and her desire was to make a difference in the lives of young girls who desired to participate in a program like cheerleading. She followed one of her dreams of becoming a cheer coach with Pop Warner and coached Team Lady Gladiators for a number of years. She also had a passion for dance. She joined the dance team during her attendance at Phoenix College.
Takisha is survived by her mother, JoAnn Phillips King of Phoenix, Arizona, 4 children: Nyassah Thomas, Fulani Thomas, Malik Thomas, and Jamaias Bruce Phillips of Phoenix, Arizona, 1 brother, Bruce Allen Phillips, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, 1 sister, Dionne Myers of New Orleans, LA, 4 Aunts: Joy T. Darden of Glendale, Arizona; Debra T. Selmon of New Orleans, LA, Lisa Phillips of New Orleans, LA and Sheila Phillips of New Orleans, LA; 2 Uncles: Rudolph Thomas, Jr. of Dallas Fort Worth, Texas and Collins Phillips, Jr. of New Orleans, LA, as well as the godparents of her son Jamaias Phillips and a host of great-aunts, a great uncle, cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Bruce Allen Phillips, Sr. and grandparents Rudolph Thomas, Sr., Jacqueline Smith Parker, Collins and Emma Phillips.
Relatives, friends of the family and employees of American Express are invited to attend the celebration of life at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church (1401 East Jefferson Street) on May 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
