Tom Donohue came into my life 18 years ago when he walked into the Phoenix American Diabetes Association office to interview for a Logistics Manager position that I was hiring for in 2002. In retrospect, my hiring him was one of my biggest and enduring gifts to the ADA! We gradually became the best of friends both professionally and personally...and haven't left each other's side until Tom died on April 18, 2020. We were planning on getting married this Summer.
Tom was a mix of "New York tough guy" and well-seasoned smart-aleck...but he packed a heart of gold and an authentic ability to give of himself unconditionally. He lived his life fully committed to his truth: Do the right thing in the face of adversity.
Tom's extensive career background as a major event Producer in the Music and Entertainment industries in the US and Europe, allowed him to integrate his experience into filling the needs of the ADA, enabling the association to create more dynamic and expertly presented public events in numerous National Markets. His most recent position as National Director of Event Production was both demanding yet highly rewarding.
I feel so very thankful for the years that I spent with Tom. He brought me wisdom, comfort, loyalty, laughter, love, and generously shared his passion for Rock and Roll music, Classic and Collector Automobiles, Mediterranean cooking, and the serenity of appreciating a soothing sunset together in one of many beautiful Islands we traveled to over the years.
Tom’s story does not end with his untimely death. I am moving forward with it, as Tom will always be an indelible part of my life.
Arrangements for a Catholic Funeral Mass to be held in Scottsdale, AZ are pending due to COVID19 restrictions in place.
- Sheridyn Brown, Tom's Fiance.
