Thomas Edward Ragona, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in 1929 in Ohio as Guytano Ragona, Thomas grew up during the Great Depression. His father, an immigrant from Sicily, made wine, and his mother was born in the United States. He was one of four children, with one brother and two sisters.
Thomas served his country as a Private First Class in the Korean War, stationed in South Korea for a year. After returning home, he met Rosemary outside her high school, and they were married in 1955. Together, they raised their son Charles, and though their first born passed away shortly after birth, their family grew and flourished.
A dedicated family man, Thomas had a remarkable sense of humor and a generous, selfless spirit. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and shared his joy of life with them through countless trips to Disneyland, Disney World, Hawaii, Italy, and many shows, leaving treasured memories for his family. He taught himself to play the piano and accordion, often filling his home with music, much of it learned by ear. He was also blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and who will remember him fondly.
Thomas spent his entire career as an auto body man, even owning his own business for a period of time. He moved to Arizona in 1984, where he continued to cherish family, friends, and faith.
He is survived by his son, Charles Ragona; his grandchildren, Charlie Ragona, Joey and his wife Cassie Ragona, and Amanda Ragona; and his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Talon, Emma, Andrew, Adam, Jacob, Ashley, and Nikolas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary Ragona.
Thomas will be deeply missed, remembered for his humor, love, and unwavering commitment to family. Even in his last days, he was full of joy, laughing and kissing his youngest great-grandson, Nikolas, just days before his passing.
A Korean War veteran, loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and doting great-grandfather, Thomas Edward Ragona lived a long, full, and beautiful life.
A visitation will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, located at 7924 North 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, on November 20, 2025, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The committal service will take place on the same day at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, Arizona, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
Thomas Edward Ragona will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
