Thomas Clark Warren

August 31, 1940 – November 10, 2025
Obituary of Thomas Clark Warren
IN THE CARE OF

West Resthaven Funeral Home & Resthaven Park Cemetery

Thomas “Tom” Warren was born on August 31, in Berea, Ohio, and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, surrounded by love in Phoenix Arizona

He is survived by his children; Maureen (Randy), Kate, Kelly (Kenneth), William (Eden), Jolynn, his siblings Carol and Dick, the Cotter family , seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

He grew up in Detroit and studied at Wayne State University. His journey began in medicine, however claiming chemistry didn’t make any sense, he finished his studies in accounting and carried that attention to detail into his career as a financial professional and his life.

A lifelong passion for hockey started with sneaking in the back door of Olympia stadium to watch the Red Wings as a kid. In his later years, the Tampa Bay Lightning captured his interest thus leaving him in a quandary whenever the two teams faced each other. Despite the change in allegiance, he talked often about the Red Wings finally taking the cup home in 1997.

Tom was a negotiator in the best sense. From getting the keys to his first car, a mid ‘50’s Chevy convertible in which he cut a deal with his Uncle Clark so he could take his first love for a drive, to obtaining his favorite beverage in a restaurant which didn’t serve it. “You can always get what you need, all you need to do is ask”.

Tom and his family spent time living across the US; Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago, Central New York, Phoenix, Ohio, Las Vegas, New Jersey, and Florida - and probably a few others we’ve forgotten.

He loved the outdoors and found peace in camping, scouting, fishing, boating, and golfing. He was proud to have traveled to nearly every state (even the few where he never lived). He hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, snowmobiled in subzero temperatures, and maybe his bravest adventure, played golf in the summers in Arizona. He embraced each new experience with enthusiasm and curiosity. His children have many happy memories of camping, snowmobiling, and seeing the country and carry on his love for dogs, family, camping and the national parks.

Throughout his life, Tom was rarely without the companionship of a dog—Wendy, Mike, Bert, Abigail, and Jackie who remained by his side until the end. The fact that his dogs had a name usually reserved for a human showed the respect he had for his four-legged friends.

Tom’s story was one of family, friendship, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. His legacy will continue in the love and laughter of all who knew him.

With his transition, Tom will find his place along side with his beloved wives, Rosemary (Cotter) and Marion (Steubing), his parents Jane and Chester, infant son Robert Thomas; and his Uncle Clark, who helped raise him and remained the most influential figure in his life.

Tom will be interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan, next to his first love Rosemary and their infant son Robert. A graveside service will be held in 2026.

The family is deeply grateful for the care and community of Glencroft Center for Modern Aging, where Tom thrived during the final five years of his life. Donations in his memory may be made to this non-profit community for the Employee Appreciation Fund.
