

Age 92, of Phoenix, passed away on December 14, 2011. Virginia was born on November 27, 1919 in Staten Island, NY, daughter of the late John Collom and LaRue Warner Collom. She graduated from Curtis High School in Staten Island. Virginia was a secretary for a brokerage firm on Wall Street New York and the “House of Trophies” in Arizona. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, entertaining, and participating in rug-hooking groups. Virginia was very active in many activities at Immanuel Union Church in Staten Island, including bazaars, fund raisers, church dinners, and seasonal fairs. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Virginia and her husband Magee traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada in their RV, before his death in 1981. Later she enjoyed traveling throughout Europe. During the last years of her life, she resided in Paradise Valley Brookdale Retirement Home, where she had many friends and enjoyed bingo. Virginia was a member of La Casa de Cresto Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, AZ. She is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara (Richard) Beck of AZ and Susan Rando of Kansas; son-in-law, Ray Wilson; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, LaRue Wilson of Texas. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 21 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, with funeral services to follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made in Virginia Stillwell’s name to Hospice of Az or the American Cancer Society.
