

Wayne D. Wood, 90 of Sun City, Az son of Carroll and Alma Wood of Indianola, Iowa passed away on January 21, 2018. Wayne was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy. He moved his family to Phoenix in 1961, and retired from construction as a General Suprintendent. He was a past-President of the Valley of the Sun Square Dance Organization. In addition, he was the co-founder and director of the Westown Girls Softball League for the City of Phoenix recreation department. His home was always surrounded by music, family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking and was always available to anyone that needed a helping hand. Wayne leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Burnetta (Arnold), daughers Nancy Romero (Joe), Pam Worrell (Von, deceased), 5 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Frankie York, 92.
He is preceded in death by his son Wayne Dean Wood and 9 siblings. Wayne met no strangers and was loved by many and will be forever missed.
