Belen Macaraig Japlit passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 93. A woman of deep faith and unmatched resilience, she lived a life defined by hard work, independence, and devotion to her family.
Born on June 3, 1933, in Maraykit, San Juan, Batangas, Philippines, Belen grew up as one of 16 siblings. She valued education deeply, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Following her graduation, she spent three years in dedicated service at the Real Monasterio de Santa Clara de Manila, establishing a strong spiritual foundation that guided her throughout her life.
In 1968, Belen moved to the United States to build a new future. She dedicated 35 years of service to the Department of Health Services Administration in Los Angeles County, where she was known for her professionalism and dependability. When she settled in Los Angeles, her faith remained central to her life, and she served as a dedicated parishioner at St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Alongside her career, Belen was a sharp, independent businesswoman who successfully owned and managed multiple properties through her smart decision-making and tireless work ethic. She used her success to lift others up, generously helping the next generation with their education and opening doors for their future.
Belen is survived by her two loving sisters, Lucila and Julieta, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Her transition marks the end of her journey, yet her story continues to serve as a blueprint for a life well-lived.
Rest in peace, Tita Belen. Your strength and legacy will always be remembered.
