Dorothy De Bond was born in Kandy, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), on February 8, 1924. She was the oldest of five children born to Justin and Minnie De Sielvie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and her siblings, Terry, Leslie, and Olga. Dorothy passed away peacefully on September 1, 2019.
Dorothy attended Good Shepherd Convent in Kandy where she graduated with honors. Seeking a new and better life for her children, Dorothy worked diligently for many years with the goal of immigrating to the United States. She migrated to America in 1968 with her husband and five children. She worked in the insurance industry as a Claims Manager for 21 years before retiring in 1989.
Dorothy was a devout Catholic and was always very involved with parish activities. She was a faithful, decades-long active member of the Legion of Mary. Dorothy was an inspiration. Her example of generosity, a caring nature, and deep faith touched the lives of many people profoundly during her journey through life.
She is survived by her sister – Rita; her five children – Duncan, Darryl, Deirdre, Deanna and Desiree; her daughters-in-law – Rowena and Nappy; her sons-in-law – Hong and Wil; her sister-in-law – Dawn; her grandchildren – Johann, Melanie, Tamara, Mark, Michael, David, Kevin, and Jordan; and her great-grandchildren – Shanthi, Cassandra, Jonas, Lucas, Maya, Siena, Dominic and Tyler.
