One summer day in 1985 I drove my wife (Brenda), daughter (Amy) , and mother (Lorraine Gibson) to visit my Aunt Eleanor at her house in Glendale. Eleanor was my dad's (John S Gibson) sister . Surprisingly cousin George and his family were there as well. We had a nice conversation on the back porch.

George Campain was one of three first cousins of mine. He was the son of my Aunt Eleanor (Mary Eleanor Davis- Gibson).

Mary Eleanor was born, Mary Eleanor Gibson In 1908 in Oklahoma. She was the daughter of my grandfather, William Forester Gibson and my grandmother Letitia Simpson-Gibson.

George’s Grandpa Gibson was my Grandpa Gibson,

George’s uncle John Gibson was my father. He was the younger brother of Eleanor who was born in 1915, seven years younger than Eleanor.

My Father and Mother (Lorraine) often took care of George when he was a child. He often lived with my family in Santa Barbara. Once for 6 months or so back in the 40s. Cousin George lived with my family for a half year. He looked up to my dad as if he was his dad.

I believe that my cousin George Campain at one time felt a very close bond with my father and mother who helped raise him.
He was close to my parents.

I’m sorry that I was really never part of his life . I was born many years later after he was part of my family.

He’s gone now but I want to, in honor of and in memory of him want , his children to know that I am here to help them understand their past family history if they so wish.

I hope to be there to mourn with you all this coming Wednesday July 24th, 2019.
