Idella Louise Kraskian

Born on January 21, 1930, in Stoneham MA., to Clarence and Myra (Fairbank) Baldwin, she spent her childhood living on a cow farm that her father eventually sold, and then on a chicken farm that the family worked on. She loved being and playing outdoors and often reminisced about how she would call out “kaboss kaboss” to bring the cows home.

She attended Rocky Knoll Elementary School in Hudson MA, South Lancaster Academy High School and Atlantic Union College both in Lancaster MA.

Louise sang, played the piano and organ, most often at church. She taught one year in a combined 1st – 12th grade classroom, then worked several years in a hospital for the mentally challenged. She married Robert (Roubik) Kraskian on May 21, 1952. They moved to New York where their daughters Eleanore and Sandra were born. After 4 years they moved to Marlboro, MA where their son Robert was born. The family moved to Glendale, CA in 1960, where their youngest daughter Judy was born. Louise was widowed in May 1963.

She devoted her life to raising her children and to caring for her in-laws. Louise was known for her commitment to her family. She cared for her husband and her in-laws until their passing. Among the jobs she held, most notably was her time at Taco Bell, Office Manager at Palmer Scaffold & Equipment Co., and Sales/Shipping Manager at Palmer Distributing Co. She would say her longevity was because she had always done a “man’s job”. She was often complimented on her heartwarming smile...which she said was her gift from God. She loved her cats, watching sports, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and playing Scrabble. She enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies and brownies. She insisted on hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas until she reached her early 80’s when the preparation became too much. Louise continued to spend as much time as possible with her family enjoying pictures when she could not attend an event or gathering.

She had only been in the hospital to deliver her children until November 2019 when she sustained a compression fracture to her L5 vertebrae. A simple kyphoplasty procedure was expected to remedy the problem. Instead, it made it painful for her to walk and rendered her incontinent. With the limited ability to walk, within a year she became bedridden. As she did throughout her life, she made the best of her situation. She continued to watch her favorite programs, play Scrabble which switched to word search puzzles. She looked forward to pictures, visits and phone calls from family and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra. She is survived by her 3 children, Eleanore, Robert and Judy, 6 grandchildren, Michelle, Sheri (Henry), Dawna (Chris), Shawna (Dave), Kelsey and Robbie, 5 great-grandchildren, Alyssa (Ariel), Julian, Taylor, Kyra and Dana, and 1 great-great-grandson Aiden, her brother William Baldwin (Gerry), 1 niece and 3 nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Glendale Funeral Home, 511 S Central Ave, Glendale, California 91204. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, 11:00am, at Eagle Rock Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2322 Merton Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90041. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Dr, Los Angeles, California 90068.
