John Wellington Woodbridge

March 21, 1954 – August 25, 2021
Obituary of John Wellington Woodbridge
IN THE CARE OF

Glendale Funeral Home

Ride Hard . . . Live Free. A spirited lover of the open road, John Wellington Woodbridge (Greywolf), passed peacefully in his sleep, at home, after struggling for several days with the Covid virus. He will be remembered for his strong presence, his “a friend to everyone he met” persona, and that voracious laugh – once you heard it, you forever knew it was his.

He was born to Thomas and Martha Woodbridge on March 21, 1954, at the US Naval Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island. He is preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Erickson, a son, Jonathan Weylin Goodwin, one granddaughter, Jocelyn Erickson, his mother, Martha Woodbridge, three sisters, Martha Monds, Trudy Anderson, Francesca Wells, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many cousins and other family members across the country. He is also survived by a special friend that quickly became a part of the family, Anne Agnant. And last, but certainly not least, he is survived by his brothers, the Shifted Souls Motorcycle Club, and numerous other clubs to which he was an “honorary” member, his rally riders and his rider enthusiast friends – the family with whom he spent so much of his life.

As a retired electrician, he spent his last few years doing odd jobs for friends and family – much more low key than the exciting career work he performed on movie sets throughout Los Angeles, California and surrounding areas. He was an avid Harley Davidson lover and a true rider, having crossed the US on his bike more than once during his lifetime. He grew from being the Wolfman (early years) to the Lone Wolf (mid-life) to Greywolf (as he is currently known) and enjoyed every moment of his wolfdom – having been born and passing during a full moon. He had a playful curiosity, natural leadership abilities and was a fierce protector of his pack, including all his family and friends.

In keeping with the character and wishes of John (Greywolf), there will be no formal funeral. A Greywolf Memorial Ride will take place on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Mulholland Harley Davidson, Calabasas, California. His cremated remains will be distributed amongst his immediate family members for private remembrance. John’s personal Facebook page will be converted to a memorial page – you may share your condolences, memories and fun stories there as well as here.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please support an effort for which John was a huge contributor – Harley Davidson Holiday Toy Runs – please contact your local Harley Davidson for ongoing events in your area. His brothers shared for every one gift most folks brought; John brought six – he loved giving to children during the holidays – please continue the generous tradition.

“Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, yet don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me – God wanted me now – He set me free. Let’s ride.”
