Kay was a 1952 graduate of Bishop Conaty High School, where she was offered an art scholarship to Immaculate Heart College. In 1961 she married Gene Baur and her wings were clipped as a United Airlines flight attendant. Kay became active in the family business at the Park Plaza Hotel, and at the same time provided a comfortable home life for her family. Kay enjoyed dancing, watching old movies, and was a supportive golf partner for Gene, her husband of 60-plus years. Gene and Kay enjoyed many interesting cruises to ports around the world. She was an avid reader and her creative talents were nourished by her interest in music, painting, and writing. Kay's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren as she displayed a loving interest and positive encouragement in all their activities. She was a spiritual person with a good sense of humor and will be remembered for her kindness, friendliness, and love of life.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, and children Gene, Michael (Christine), Kathy Brigstocke (Robin), Steve (Jacqueline), Bonnie Chauvin (Randy), and Lisa Ferrari (Alex), and grandchildren Ethan, Sophie, Emily, Colby, Nigel, Sarah, Daniel, Adam, Lily, Grace, Leo, and Reid. She was predeceased by another grandchild, Jacob.
In lieu of flowers, she would like to be remembered in your prayers, and any donation in her name can be made to Bishop Conaty High School and Blessed Sacrament Church.
The rosary (1:00 pm) and funeral Mass (1:30 pm) will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 6657 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, California 90028.
