Noemi Marasigan, age 65, fell asleep in death on April 26, 2023 surrounded by friends and family.
Noemi was born in Candelaria, Quezon on September 25, 1957 to Marciano Martinez and Salome Virtucio. Her parents raised her as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses along with her sisters. She recalls many stories about preaching with her family, not only in Candelaria, but also in the surrounding areas which led her to grow in her love for Jehovah and for the ministry. On December 23, 1972, in symbol of her dedication to her God, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Around the age of 15, when asked in her high school yearbook what she wanted to be when she grew up, she answered “I want to be a pioneer!” It was obvious at a young age that she made it her goal to give Jehovah her very best. And in 2004, she started her full-time service as a Regular Pioneer. Her dreams came true!
In 1991, Noemi moved to California, United States where surprisingly enough, she happened to meet again her high school classmate, Cesar Marasigan. And on April 19, 1992 they were soon married. They received two blessings from Jehovah, Melvin and Sherleen. Together as a family, they served Jehovah in the Eagle Rock Tagalog Congregation, and in 2011 they moved to the Pasadena Tagalog Congregation where Noemi served as a Regular Pioneer until the end of her life.
Noemi was always seen putting first the ministry in her life. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Noemi would often be seen on Zoom, sharing the good news found in the Bible. She found immense joy in speaking and teaching others about the Bible’s promise of a wonderful future ahead. She attended the Pioneer Service School twice in person and once on Zoom during the pandemic. That’s how much she loved people and the ministry. She was once caught on camera during one of the schools stating, “Pioneering is the best days of my life.” She truly loved Jehovah with her whole heart, mind, and soul. (Matthew 22:37)
Noemi worked for the City of Los Angeles as an accountant for 25 years. Her co-workers had this to say, “Noemi was a delightful person, full of positivity and energy. Her kind and cheerful manner brightened every room she entered. And her work ethic set a shining example for so many in the Controller’s Office – she was truly part of our family.”
Noemi’s fight for her life first began when she faced a life threatening illness in October 2019. With Jehovah’s help, she was able to survive and recover from massive blood loss and infection. Unexpectedly in December 2022, she experienced another round of blood loss, but was able to overcome this battle. However in April 2023, she sadly passed away due to her illness. But with full faith, no matter what pressure she received from doctors or even the desire to continue living, she trusted in Jehovah. She wanted to stay firm and do what was right in her God’s eyes, whether or not her family was present. She boldly refused to have a blood transfusion in order to stay loyal to Jehovah, knowing that He has the power to resurrect her. (Acts 24:15) With full confidence we can say, “[she had] fought the fine fight. [She had] run the race to the finish. [She had] maintained her faithfulness.” (2 Timothy 4:7, ftn.)
Noemi will be lovingly remembered by her five sisters, Loida Rubio, Racquel Nonan, Rebbie Virtucio, Ruth Liwag, and Leah De Silva along with her mother, Salome Martinez. We look forward to the day when the Mart Sisters will be complete again in the future paradise on earth.
Noemi will be tremendously missed by all. However, we are convinced of Jehovah’s love for Noemi as he longs to bring her back to life at his appointed time. (John 5:28,29; Job 14:14, 15; Romans 8:38, 39)
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, 3:00pm, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3493 E. Del Mar Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107
