As a youngster Roger was fun loving and free-spirited who would often do things his own way which often gets him in trouble with Papa Raffy. He completed Elementary School at Santo Domingo Elementary School and attended First year High School in Iloilo City before migrating to the United States in October 1976 with his two sisters Edna and Esperanza Jr. The three of them were re-united with Mama Espie and their eldest brother Rey who migrated ahead of them to the U.S.A.
