Dorothy Agnes Kirk, 73, of Glendale, New York, passed away on August 31, 2026. Born on March 14, 1953, Dorothy lived a life marked by steady purpose and strength, meeting each season with a self-reliant spirit and a clear sense of what mattered most.
Dorothy devoted her professional life to serving others as a Laboratory Information Specialist in a hospital, bringing care and precision to work that supported patients and colleagues alike.
Family was the center of Dorothy’s world. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Anna, and by her two sisters, Mary and Karen Kirk. Dorothy lived in the same house her whole life, a constant presence and a steadfast thread of continuity through the years.
Dorothy’s love for dogs was a defining joy in her life. She was a dog trainer and participated in dog exhibiting, pursuits that reflected her dedication and the patient confidence with which she approached what she loved. Earlier in life, Dorothy and her cousin, Louise, took multiple cross-country trips to California, camping and taking in the sights along the way. In later years, she continued traveling with Louise while showing dogs—sharing the road, the routines, and the companionship that made those journeys meaningful.
Dorothy leaves behind her beloved cousin, Louise, and two dogs: Dreamer, her 11 year old Weimaraner, and Lil Bit, her 7 year old Shih Tzu.
A Memorial Service will be held at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385, on October 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
