Elsa Takatsch

July 14, 1932 – July 13, 2026

Elsa Takatsch, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, just one day shy of her 94th birthday. She will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Elsa was the beloved wife of the late John Takatsch. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Albert (Theresa), Rick (Lucy), and Eddie (Chris). She was a cherished grandmother to Emily, James, and Lisa, and she is now reunited with her late grandson, Benjamin Jacob Takatsch. She was also a beloved great-grandmother of Casey and Alice.

Elsa expressed her care for others through her boundless generosity and the steady warmth of her home. She was happiest when feeding those she loved; her talent for baking and cooking—particularly her legendary cookies and fried chicken—brought comfort to family and friends alike. Elsa also found great joy in gardening, with a special passion for her roses—simple, beautiful pleasures that reflected her life of patience, skill, and attentiveness.

She was the dear sister of the late Katharina Walter (survived by her husband, Gunther); the late Maria Stark (and her late husband, Joseph); the late Sophie Koenig (and her late husband, Engelbert); the late Jacob Eng (survived by his wife, Regina); and Helene Hutter (and her late husband, Rudy).

A short service in her honor will be held at 6:00 p.m. on the day of the viewing.

Visitation will be held at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385 on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
