Gerardina Ascoli

Born on September 16, 1930, Gerardina carried herself with a gentle grace and an honest, thoughtful way of being that made others feel at ease. Faith was a guiding light throughout her life; a devoted Catholic, she held close the patron saints Padre Pio and St. Anthony, and her faithful spirit offered comfort and example to those around her.

Gerardina’s love was most often expressed through care in the everyday—patient, generous, and selfless in the ways that matter most. She was an amazing cook, known especially for her meatballs, pasta fagioli, and Italian cuisines, and an excellent baker whose crème puffs and sponge cake were made with the same tenderness she brought to her family. Her warmth also carried a spark of humor and spunk; she loved to sing, and at family weddings she became the entertainment—her voice filling the room while her husband danced.

Gerardina was the beloved wife to the late Italo, and a cherished mother to Francesca, Ferdinando (Darlene), and Anna Maria (Kenneth). She was a proud grandmother to Kyle (Ginger), Danielle (Scott), Ryan, Freddy Paul, and Michelle (Joe), and a loving great grandmother to Gianna, Leila, Thomas, Leah, Daniel, and Baby Jack. Her loyalty and resilience—steady, tenacious, and wise—left a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege to know her.

Visitation will be held at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385, on August 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 83-17 78th Ave, New York, NY 11385, on August 3, 2026, at 9:30 am.

A Committal Service will follow at All Faiths Cemetery, 67-29 Metropolitan Ave, New York, NY 11379, on August 3, 2026, at 11:00 am.

Gerardina’s life was a testament to compassionate devotion—an inspirational presence whose kindness, patience, and gentle humor will be carried forward in the hearts of her family and all who loved her.
