

John J Broderick, a resident of Tioga County, NY, a devoted family man and dedicated public servant, passed away on June 3, 2026 at the age of 85. He leaves behind a profound legacy of honor, courage, and unwavering love.
Born September 2, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY as the only child to Francis and Margaret, John has always loved his Brooklyn Dodgers and dreamed of one day becoming a Police Officer. He was a proud Army veteran and a retired NYC Transit Police Officer who spent his life serving and protecting others.
John shared a beautiful 41-year marriage with his beloved wife, Mary, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his eldest son, John P.
John’s legacy continues through his surviving sons, Francis and Michael. He was a cherished “PopPop” to his grandchildren, James, Gianna, and Joseph, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Throughout his life, John embodied the true spirit of service—first through his bravery in the military and later protecting the community for 20 years as a police officer. He will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to his country, his dedication to his fellow citizens, and the deep, enduring love he had for his wife, Mary and his family.
The family of John will be celebrating his life in memoriam and receiving visitors at the Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Avenue, Glendale, New York 11385 on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, 87-19 88th Ave, Woodhaven, NY 11421 on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at All Faith's Cemetery, 67-29 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, New York 11379.
