Karen Elizabeth Baybutt

We are saddened to announce the passing of Karen Elizabeth (Ahola) Baybutt. Karen was born in Fitchburg, MA on July 20th, 1944, and departed this world peacefully on March 9th, 2026, after a brief period of illness.

Karen derived lasting fulfillment from her time as a homemaker and mother and, later, from her career in small business (Mrs. B's T's) and retail. She enjoyed everyday pursuits such as maintaining a tidy and peaceful home, gardening, enjoying her sporty Corvette and later her Infinity, and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. Karen especially valued the companionship of the family’s black cat, Vince. She was dedicated to creating a homey environment of warmth and connection and was tickled to be living out her final years in Queens, NYC.

Karen is survived by her two children, Shar La Porte and Stephen Baybutt, and five grandchildren. We are forever grateful to the nurses, aides, and everyone involved in her care at NYC Health + Hospital, Jamaica, Queens and Calvary Hospital, Bronx.

A small memorial service will be held to celebrate Karen’s life on Sunday March 15th at 9am at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home. May her soul rest in peace.
