Leyda's viewing will be held Thursday and Friday, July 21st and 22nd, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385.

A Funeral Mass in Leyda's honor will take place at St. Gabriel's Church, 749 Linwood Street, Brooklyn, NY 11208, on Saturday, July 23rd, 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM.

A burial service will follow at 12:00 PM in St. John Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, NY 11379.

Leyda Josefa Lara de Grullon, age 78, joined her parents and siblings in heaven on Thursday, July 14, 2022. Leyda will be remembered by her Husband Jose (Bero) Grullon, her four children Wilson, Aida, Edward, and Joanna, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born on August 31, 1943 to Roberto Lara Martinez and Felicita Espinal de Lara. She grew up in Bani, Dominican Republic with her seven siblings whom she loved. Known for her wit and great sense of humor she would often make her family laugh. Leyda was very hospitable and created a welcoming home with an open door to anyone who needed it. She had a strong Catholic faith from a young age that guided her through life. It was her faith in Jesus that made her love and grace for others unconditional. She was an evangelist who successfully built up churches and faith communities in Dominican Republic and New York. She would often say “Remember me for my love and belief in the Eucharist.” Leyda brought that love into her home and shared it with her children whom she loved above anything else on this earth. Her main goal in life and greatest passion was to eventually make it to heaven, which was evident by her last words “Alabado sea El Señor” (Glory be to God) and “Dios te bendiga” (May God bless you).

Leyda Josefa Lara de Grullón, de 78 años, se unió a sus padres y hermanos en el Reino De Dios el jueves 14 de julio de 2022. Leyda será recordada por su esposo José (Bero) Grullón, sus cuatro hijos Wilson, Aida, Edward y Joanna, sus nietos y bisnietos. Nació el 31 de agosto de 1943 de Roberto Lara Martínez y Felicita Espinal de Lara. Creció en Bani con sus siete hermanos a quienes amaba. Conocida por su ingenio y gran sentido del humor, a menudo hacía reír a su familia. Leyda fue muy hospitalaria y creó un hogar acogedor con la puerta abierta a cualquiera que lo necesitara. Tuvo una fuerte fe católica desde muy joven, que la guió a lo largo de la vida. Fue su fe en Jesús lo que hizo que su amor y gracia por los demás fueran incondicionales.
