Mario Dallao

Born the youngest of 4 on September 8, 1930 in Cagno’ Italy – the tiniest of towns in the Val di Non – Mario grew up during WWII and the Great Depression. He lost his Dad when he was only 7 and at 12 his Mom sent him to boarding school where he learned his trade as a tailor. In 1961, he was granted a work visa and traveled by ship to America. Once he was settled, he returned to Italy to propose to his hometown sweetheart who left everything behind to come join him in New York to start their new life together. They were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Brooklyn on March 8, 1964 and were blessed with their two children.

Mario is survived and missed by his wife Slivana, his daughter Susan (Wayne), and his son John (Jill); forever cherished and remembered by his three grandchildren Christopher, Alexis and Michelle.

Mario Dallao, age 94, of Glendale, New York passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

A visitation for Mario will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385. A catholic funeral mass will occur Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Pancras Church, 72-22 68th St, New York, NY 11385. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at Linden Hill United Methodist Cemetery, 323 Woodward Ave, Ridgewood, NY 11385.
