Mauro Vera, 82, passed away on September 23, 2026. Born on February 18, 1944, in Ecuador to Ohlanda and Enrique Vera, Mauro carried his roots with him throughout a life defined by steady devotion and quiet strength. He later made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States in 1967, working tirelessly to build a secure and meaningful life for the family he loved so deeply.
A hard-working man in every sense, Mauro spent his days operating a printing press—showing up, providing, and doing what needed to be done with consistency and care. In the way he lived, he taught that love is often expressed through effort: through long hours, through reliability, and through putting others first.
Mauro married his wife, Norma, in 1962, and together they built a family that remained the center of his world. He was the devoted father of two daughters, Guadalupe, Jeanette, and his son Fernando. His children were his world, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. His two sons-in-law, Angel And Allan meant the world to him. Mauro was a cherished grandfather to Angel Jr., Giovanni, Noah, Jacob, Hannah, and Megan—each one held close in his heart, each one a source of pride and joy.
At home, Mauro found happiness in the simple, familiar comforts that made life feel full: time with family, relaxing and watching TV, and letting music fill the room. He loved listening to Bachata, Salsa, and Bolero, and those rhythms became part of the soundtrack of his days. Family holidays were especially dear to him, and among them all, Christmas stood as Mauro’s favorite—an enduring season of togetherness and warmth, made memorable by the people he loved most.
Visitation will be held at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave, Glendale, NY 11385, on September 28, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Werst & LaBella Funeral Home on September 29, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Committal Service will follow at All Souls Crematory, 72-02 Astoria Blvd S, East Elmhurst, NY 11370, on September 29, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Mauro will be remembered as beloved and selfless—someone whose devotion was felt in the everyday moments, whose presence brought steadiness, and whose love for his family never wavered. His absence will be deeply felt, but the life he built, the care he gave, and the memories he leaves behind will remain, held close by all who cherished him.
