

He was born on July 16, 1993 and was known to others by a variety of nicknames, including Big Al, Alec, etc. Just as he was known by many names, he had numerous layers to his personality and wide-ranging interests. In his younger years, he played many sports, being most remembered for his amazing skill as a baseball catcher. He was involved in Cub Scouts and received several awards for most creative. In middle school and high school, he was involved in chorus and loved many kinds of music. He graduated from Arvada West High School in 2011 and immediately began studies in Mechanical Engineering at Colorado School of Mines, receiving his degree in May 2016.
Alec loved the outdoors, was an avid hiker and conquered many of Colorado’s 14er’s. He loved fishing, hunting, and shooting. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor, a love for video games, sleeping in, meat of all kinds, spicy foods, and swearing.
In the past few years, his service in the military was a large part of his life. He joined the Air Force Reserves and graduated from basic training July 2013 in San Antonio, TX. He was active in the National Society of Pershing Rifles beginning in his college years and leading up to his passing. He participated in many types of training with the Air Force all over the United States. He was a member of the 710th Security Forces Squad, Fire Team Member and achieved the rank of Sr. Airman. He will receive full military honors.
Alec is survived by his mother Marlene, his father David (stepmother Cindy), half-brothers Garrett (9) and Nash (3), his step-grandparents, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and countless friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 1 pm at Olinger Moore Howard Chapel, 4345 W. 46th Ave., Denver, CO 80212. A celebration of life and reception will follow at the same location. Alec’s favorite foods will be served for all to enjoy.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Alec’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project, Inc. or Mission 22.
