Anna (Anne) Mildred Bredengerd of Golden, Colorado passed away peacefully at her home on April 26, 2017. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Bredengerd and granddaughter, Erin Bredengerd. Anne lives on through her three children Pat (Julie) of Westminster, Mike (Nancy) of Kent, Washington & Julie (Jim) Glassmeyer of Golden, six grandchildren Justin, Scott, Sara, and Jordan Bredengerd, Matt and Nick Glassmeyer, one great-grandson, Coleson Bredengerd and one sister Mary Lou (Emmett) Hoolihan Laverne, California, and many, many nieces and nephews.
Anne was born in Meredith, Kansas on April 20, 1927 to parents James & and Lula (Copple) Breen. One of 11 children, Anne grew up in Cloud County, Kansas where she was fondly known as Annie. In 1961, Anne, Phil and the family moved to Lakewood, Colorado. Anne had started her teaching career in a country school in Kansas and continued to pursue her passion for teaching at the elementary level at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Lakewood. There, she started the kindergarten program in 1976 and also taught 1st and 2nd grades. Her legacy at Fatima spanned 30 years where she always worked with great enthusiasm, compassion and creativity with her students and their families. Many of her students still consider her to be their favorite teacher.
Another great passion of Anne’s was sports. She LOVED her Broncos. Anne and her daughter were season ticket holders for 24 years. The crowning moment was their attendance of Super Bowl XXXII where the Broncos defeated the Green Bay Packers. She also was a constant on the sideline for her kids and grandkids whether it was football, baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis or music concerts. She never wanted to miss anything. She even frequented the horse track to see her son-in-law’s horse race, where she usually was the big winner.
Anne also had a love for outdoors and travel. She enjoyed fishing, camping (in her younger days) and loved watching birds.
Four days before her passing, she had a wonderful 90th birthday celebration where she shared cake and ice cream surrounded by her family.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lakewood at 3:00 PM May 24, 2017 with a reception immediately following at her home at 14915 W. 58th Place in Golden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima School, c/o Lisa Taylor, 10530 W 20th Ave, Denver, CO 80215.
Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Woods Chapel, Golden, CO.
