Arlene Louise Mattson

Arlene Louise Mattson passed away in Lakewood, CO on February 27, 2015. She was born on October 13, 1917 in Phillips, NE to Charles F. and Annabelle (Mapes) Detamore. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1935 and married Joseph Donald Mattson on September 10, 1939 in Grand Island, NE. They made their home in Central City, NE until 1951 and then moved over the following eight years to Columbus, Scottsbluff and Grand Island, NE. She and Joe moved to Rapid City, SD in 1967. He passed away in 1990. Arlene stayed in Rapid City until moving to Lakewood in 2008. She was a marvelous and compassionate friend to many people in her family, church, community and PEO, wherever she lived. She was devoted to bridge, family outings and her beloved husband. She is survived by her sons Roger (Donna) and Norman (Judeen) Mattson, four grandchildren; Ann (Patrick), Brian (Sabrina), Brett (Alicia) and Scott (Nicole)) and 5 great grandchildren; Tara, Nick, Courtney, Kayleigh and Carmen, all of them residing in the Denver area. Olinger Woods Chapel of Golden, CO is coordinating funeral arrangements. The family plans private ceremonies of remembrance in Golden and Rapid City. Inurnment will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery. Gifts in memoriam are encouraged for the Denver Hospice www.thedenverhospice.org.
