Jeannie Collopy-Bach passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on August 28, 2015. Jeannie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. She left the world too soon. She is survived by loving husband Joel Bach, daughter, Josi Bach, sisters Caryn Collopy and Suzanne Collopy-Lamb, four nephews, Aunts and Uncles, several cousins, and her devoted parents Diane & Jim Collopy.
Jeannie was the most giving person that you could ever meet; always thinking of, and doing things for others. The universe lost some of its glow with the loss of her bright, shining light that day. Jeannie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the honor and joy of knowing her. Jeannie extended her love, generosity, and kindness to everyone she touched. Her family and friends were truly blessed to have Jeannie in their lives.
Jeannie was born in San Francisco on April 29, 1963. Her family moved to Santa Cruz when she was nine years old. She attended Westlake Elementary, Mission Hill Junior High, and Santa Cruz High Schools where she played basketball and was on the swim team. After graduating from high school in 1981, she attended the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) to pursue Undergraduate degrees in both Mathematics and English Literature.
Jeannie worked at UCSC as a budget analyst before taking a job at University of California at Davis (UCD) where she met her husband, Joel. They married in 1995 at the Lighthouse overlooking the ocean on West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz.
Jeannie and Joel moved to Golden Colorado in 1998 where Jeannie volunteered at the Visitor Center, the City Planning Department, Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen, the Craft Box, Donor Alliance, Golden Relay for Life, and Free Horizon Montessori (Josi’s school) where she worked in the classroom and developed many enrichment activities for the students. Jeannie was also a member of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, the Golden Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Nightly Book Group, and the Colorado School of Mines Book Group (Mines Faculty Wives Book Club).
Jeannie loved nature. She enjoyed walking along Clear Creek in Golden with her family and her dog Maya. Her love for traveling and sightseeing was one of her past times and enjoyed camping in the family trailer every summer. She enjoyed exploring the tide pools, and walking along West Cliff Drive when in Santa Cruz for family visits. She always was looking for a new adventure to share with Joel and Josi.
Jeannie had many hobbies and special interests; she enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing, gardening, reading, and bee keeping.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a fund for a memorial bench that will be placed in one of Jeannie’s favorite Golden locations (yet to be determined) and a tree will be planted at Free Horizon Montessori School.
Donations may be made through the Jeannie Collopy-Bach Memorial account at the Credit Union of Colorado, 1800 Jackson St, Golden, CO 80401, 303-832-4816.
Neighbors and friends have established a web site (https://www.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/732670/) to support Josi and Joel.
Celebrations of life will be held in both Golden and Santa Cruz, soon. More details will be forthcoming.
