

Joe Garrett was the oldest son of Joe Aubrey Garrett and Maggie (Sellers) Garrett. He was born in Big Cabin, Oklahoma on January 16, 1929. He has four brothers, Dutch Garrett (Deceased), Irvin Garrett (Deceased), Vernon Garrett Tulsa Oklahoma, and Rollie Garrett (Deceased). Joe and Maggie Garrett are both deceased.
Joe was a winning star quarterback for his high school football team. He moved to western Kansas we he met his future wife Hazel June Seals. They were married at the Methodist Church in Lamar, Colorado on October 8th 1950 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They had one son, Joe Ray (J.R.) Garrett who passed away September 1st, 2009 and two grandchildren, Josef Robert Garrett, and James Lyn Noh.
Joe worked many jobs in the early years around Denver and in Colorado. He was a heavy equipment operator and worked on many jobs for the Colorado State Government and had top clearance to work for the U.S. Government. After 32 years, he retired and he and his wife went everywhere together taking trips to coasts, family reunions and shorter trips.
He will be missed by his wife, grandchildren, large extended family and many friends. A memorial service will be held in Syracuse, KS at a date later to be determined in the spring.
