Kelly Patricia Graves passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Monday, March 20, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. Kelly was born on July 31, 1949 to Everett and Lois Jean Stokes. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her long time companion, Russ Lehman; her sons, Shawn and Russell Graves; her daughter, Jessica Doud; two stepsons, Michael and Christopher Graves; nine grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. After many years as a foster parent, her loss is mourned by many of her foster children as well.
Kelly lived her life in service to others, particularly those with special needs. In addition to her time as a foster parent, she volunteered for the Special Olympics, worked for numerous businesses that provided goods and services to the disabled community, served on the Denver Commission for People with Disabilities, and was a caregiver to her mother in the final years of her life. Most of all, Kelly was the lynchpin of her family, always committed to her friends and loved ones. She will be missed beyond measure.
She will be buried at Golden Cemetery. Funeral services will be held prior to the burial. The services will be held at Olinger Woods Chapel, 1100 Washington Street, in Golden, Colorado on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30. The funeral service will be from 11:30-12:15.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Colorado Special Olympics:
