Merle James Westling

Merle James Westling passed away May 26, in Golden, Colorado after suffering a massive heart attack. Merle was born February 22, 1942 in Wahoo, Nebraska. Merle married Beverly Jean Kess in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 27, 1963. They moved to Arvada, Colorado in 1968 and later moved to Coal Creek Canyon in 1973. After retirement, they spent the winters in Gold Canyon, Arizona for the past 9 years.

Merle spent 34 years as a law enforcement officer. He had many assignments ranging from traffic to homicide investigations. For the past 5 years, Merle and Bev have worked at the Canyon Vistas Resort in Gold Canyon, Arizona.

He survived by his wife Beverly, son Tracey, daughter-in-law Kim, grandson Alan, daughter Tina, son-in-law Glynn Moore, and granddaughter Tori. He was preceded in death by his father Oscar and mother Berneice.
