Russell Glen Heberlein passed on after 84 years of life on January 4, 2017. Russell was born to the late Jacob and Clara Heberlein on October 20, 1932 in Burlington, Colorado during the Depression of the 1930’s and the Dust Bowl of the Great Plains. Born into that difficult economic time helped develop Russ an appreciation for the simple things in life like the beauty of nature. At an early age, Russ found pleasure in hunting and fishing in Eastern Colorado. He spent his youth working summers on his uncle’s ranches and learned the value of a hard day’s work. From 1953 to 1955, Russ served in the United States Army and while stationed in Temple, Texas he met his wife Helen who was in nursing school. The year he was discharged from the Army, he married Helen in Denver, Colorado and they started their family. Russ cared for his family deeply and was a great provider for them. He worked most of his life in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator and superintendent. Russ and Helen had four children, Rebecca (Robert) Lequerique, Craig Heberlein, Eric Heberlein (deceased), and Laura Heberlein; three granddaughters, Rachel (Chris) Fogg, Alison Langley, Kara (Seamus) Doone, and three great granddaughters, Joanna Fogg, Alexandra Fogg, and Kennedy Doone. May dad go in peace to be with his loving wife Helen and son Eric. “For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?” (Kahlil Gibran)
