After a long battle of 27 years with Parkinson's disease, Al passed away on May 31, 2021. Al was born on November 28, 1951 in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School in 1969 and attended LSU. Al was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Al 's passion was helping people, and he had a gift of fixing almost anything. He was a retired master carpenter and resident of Prairieville. In his retirement years, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. Al was a member of Carpenters Local 1098 for 50 years and was a teacher for the Carpenter Apprenticeship program for many years. He was presented the “Golden Hammer Award” for his dedicated service to the Apprentices of Carpenters Local 1098. He was also presented the “Brotherhood Award” for recognition of his selfless contributions. Al was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, June 3rd from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Ourso's Funeral Home in Gonzales with a mass of Christian burial to follow at noon at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. Entombment in the church mausoleum. Those who will dearly miss Al is his wife of 47 years Cathy LeBlanc Guidry; two children, daughter Michelle (Jared Walker); a son Christopher (Summer Guidry); four grandchildren, Hadley and Hudson Walker and Laney and Slade Guidry. One brother and sister- in-law; Wayne Guidry (Joyce), sisters and brother- in- laws; Ginger Zimmer (Dale), Liz Wells (Curtis), Becky Herndon (John). Mother- in- law; Ethel LeBlanc. Sister- in- laws Judy Hidalgo and Jan Burtt (Phil); brother- in- law, Don LeBlanc. Numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the kind care of Pinnacle Hospice(Brittany Rodriguez and Annette Jones) and to all our family and friends for their love, prayers and support during his illness. Preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Yvette Guidry, sister Judy Lawler, godson Matthew Wells, brother-in-laws, Gary Hidalgo and Richard Burtt.
