

Alvin B. “Bud” Broussard passed away at 7:20AM on Wednesday April 13, 2016 at the age of 85 in Prairieville surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Hobart, LA and a resident of Prairieville. Bud was a 1948 graduate of Dutchtown High School. He was the retired owner of Bud Enterprises, Inc. which he started in 1965. Prior to starting his own company, he worked for Ike Smith Electric. He was also an IBEW Local Union #995 member and former partner of BELCO. Bud was involved in the EASL, Reserve Deputy with the APSO, Ascension Parish Police Juror for the Prairieville area, and a Prairieville Volunteer Fire Department member. He is survived by his daughter Merle Faye Broussard, his son Alvin Broussard , Donna Denton; sisters and brother-in-law Bobbie and Walter Leftwich and Pearl Murphy; grandchildren: Bryce and Kyrstin Broussard, Blaire and Jared Amedee, Chase Broussard, Brianna Broussard and granddog Buddy; great-grandchildren: Zayne and Demi Lace Amedee, Blaze and Kali Rae Broussard; special friend Janis May LeBourgeois. Preceded in death by his wife Stella Ann Poche Broussard, parents Belton “Bob” Broussard and Stella Mae White Broussard; sisters Nita Broussard and Rita Desporte; brothers-in-law Frank Desporte and Marvin Murphy. Pallbearers will be Bryce Broussard, Chase Broussard, Nicholas Murphy, Robert Murphy, Jared Amedee, Bruce Heard, Cecil Broussard and Brent Broussard. Honorary Pallbearers are Glavin “Babe” Broussard, Sonny Lamendola, Carol Gautreau, Bully Dragg, Pat Decoteau, Buggs Carpenter, Steve Robert, Mickey Latuso, Buck Banker, Melvin Ferrington, George Armstrong, Jr, Murphy Painter and Mike Stafford. Visitation will be on Sunday April 17, 2016 from 5PM – 9PM at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales and will resume on Monday April 18, 2016 from 8:30AM until religious services begin at 11AM celebrated by Deacon Leon Murphy. Entombment will follow immediately after services at Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville.
