Amelia Mary Walker Parent

A resident of Jefferson, LA, she passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 5:00 am at her home. She was 80 and a native of Sorrento. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Agnes Parish and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 64 ½ years Lavern “Diddy” “L.J.” Parent; daughter, Emma Parent Doulette and her husband, Alexander, Jr.; son, Brett Parent and wife, Geralyn; sister, Agnes Walker Jones; brother, Victor Walker; and three grandchildren, Hilary Frey and husband, Adam, Christopher Parent and Jennifer Parent.She was preceded in death by her sons, Bart Parent and Lavern “Joey” Parent, Jr.; her parents, Ervin and Emma Leblanc Walker; and her siblings, Violet Villeneuve, Ruth Walker, John William Walker, Beulah Williams and Ervin Walker.Visiting will be at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, Rev. Gerard LaPort officiating. Entombment to follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery, St. Amant. Pallbearers will be Christopher Parent, Burris Parent, Arthur LaPorte, Jr., Glynn Parent, Kerry Walker and Ervin Walker.
