A native of Virginia and resident of Prairieville, she passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at the age of 65. She retired from the Ascension Parish School Board after 11 years of service as a Purchasing Agent. She is survived by a son, Ronald "Ronnie" Nickens Jr.; grandson, Ashton Nickens; granddaughters, Allie Beth Picou and Casey Rae Parish; brother and sister-in-law, Walter "Ray" and Donna Shirley; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Don Wilson. Preceded in death by husband, Ronald Clark Nickens Sr.; daughter, Rae Anna Nickens; parents, Velma Pearl Hooper and Walter Raymond Shirley Sr. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales Monday, June 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev.
