Born on November 26, 1944, in Havana, Cuba, Annie was the beloved daughter of the late Jorge Paul Ramos Muñoz and Ana Lagomasino de Ramos. She brought joy and warmth to every life she touched and lived her life grounded in deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a heart full of service.
Annie found profound spiritual fulfillment through her volunteer work at the Sister Dulce Mercedarian Prayer Center, where she developed a close and lasting bond with Sister Dulce. Their friendship and spiritual connection remained a source of strength and comfort to Annie throughout her life and until her final days.
Nothing brought Annie more joy than being part of her three sons’ lives. She treasured every moment spent with her nine grandchildren, who lovingly called her “YaYa.” Her legacy lives on in each of them—in their laughter, faith, and sense of family.
Annie is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Elwood Gerard “Jerry” Schmitt; her children, Gerard Sidney Schmitt (Carla), George Frederick Schmitt, and Michael Louis Schmitt (Lenore); her grandchildren, Olivia Vayree Schmitt, Isabelle Cecilia Schmitt, Meredith Ella Schmitt, Kyle Frederick Schmitt, Jacob Sidney Schmitt, Adelaide Anne Schmitt, Juliette Alexandra Schmitt, Michael Anthony Schmitt, and Jonathan Elwood Schmitt; and her sister, Marta Ramos Suarez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jorge and Ana Ramos.
