Ansell "Mac" Myer McAlister, age 82, of Saint Amant, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1941, to the late Ansell G. McAlister and Juanita W. McAlister. Mac was an Auto Mechanic and a member of the Local 5 Teamsters Union. Mac's passion for Western novels and movies was evident throughout his life. His love for the genre not only shaped his leisure activities but also became a cherished part of his identity. He found joy and relaxation in the tales of the Old West, both in literature and on the silver screen. Family was most important to Mac, and he held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren; in his eyes they could do no wrong. He leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses at Landmark South Nursing Home, with special appreciation for Brenda and Auggie, who provided exceptional care and companionship to Mac in his final days. Mac was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda P. McAlister; brothers, Bobby Walker, Muncy McAlister, Oscar McAlister; and granddaughter, Vivian McAlister. He is survived by his children, Herman McAlister and his wife Lisa, Kimberly Ewing and her husband Ashton, Madeline "Angie" Wade and her husband Richard; sisters, Evelyn Lenard and Carolyn Nicolosi; grandchildren, Cade Ewing, Aaron Ewing, Garrett Ewing, Andrew McAlister, Claire McAlister, Neil McAlister, Alden McAlister, Olivia Wade, Abigail Wade; and great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Ewing, Amelia McAlister, and Eloise McAlister. Pallbearers will be Cade Ewing, Aaron Ewing, Garrett Ewing, Andrew McAlister, Neil McAlister, and Daniel Otillio. A visitation for Mac will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. A burial will take place at New River Baptist Church Cemetery, 45270 LA-429, Saint Amant, LA, at 12:00 PM on the same day.
