Bobbie began her long and happy life in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana as the baby of the family. She and her sisters, Beverly Thomas and Gloria Bradley cherished their parents Sauvole & Verrena Domengeaux and the life they lead primarily in Prairieville, LA.
Known affectionately as a perfectionist by family and friends, her fastidious approach to life served her well as an elementary school teacher at Gonzales Elementary for 3 decades. Beloved by her students and their parents, Miss Bobbie was the steel magnolia of school teachers. Her indefatigable strength and determination masked by an outwardly softer exterior were the keys to her success in the classroom and life.
Love of Family, laughter, good food, and God were the cornerstones by which Bobbie lived. She was an excellent baker. Christmas was not complete without her icebox fruit rolls and, a particular favorite of the grandchildren, her coconut cake. Her daughters Robin, Aimee, and Jeanine were lifelong witnesses to their Mother’s ability to find laughter and joy in life’s ups and downs and are inspired to continue the tradition in their own lives.
Bobbie was active in the First Baptist Church of Gonzales serving as a Sunday school teacher and singing in the choir. Later in life she joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She is predeceased by her 1st husband Marshall (M.B.) Gautreau and her second husband James Bourgeois as well as the above-mentioned sisters and parents.
Bobbie is survived by her daughters, Robin Veith (Bobby), Aimee Gautreau (Ellen Davis), and Jeanine Loup (Terry). Her grandchildren Rebekka (Jason), Jacob (Veronica), Bennett, Emma (Jack), Violet, Jackson. Her nieces and nephews Dale, Mike (Alice), Darryl (Teri), Mark (Dan), Billee (Donna). Her great nephews Andrew (Sierra), Seth (Lorraine), Jordan, Sean (Stacy). Her great-great nieces and nephews Brenslie, William, Amelie, Hayes. She was very much looking forward to her first great grandchild expected by her oldest granddaughter in July.
Bobbie “Nannie” will be truly missed. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Bourgeois family.
