I was sorry to read online about Barry's passing.  I went to Army basic training with Barry in June of 1986 at Ft. Benning GA. Afterwards he invited me a "Yankee" to come and visit him in Deridder and showed me a great time!  I still fondly remember that visit all those years ago and was headed back to N.O. with my family for a visit next month and went to Google to try and look up Barry or our other friend Delphord Baker and sadly saw this obit for Barry.  My deepest condolences to his family.  I am sure he will be sorely missed!

So very sad that Barry left so early, but no doubt he is in a better place. I'm sure Mawmaw Mattie was there to greet him. He will be missed by alot of people. He loved life and lived to the fullest. He always knew how to make people laugh & his smile was contagious. It's been many years since I last saw Barry, however, we shared a few classes through grade school and had many laughs together.  I've suffered loss before, but it really hits hard when a former classmate is lost to death.

My heart and prayers go out to the family.  May God's peace and strength be with you through this trying time.

I feel proud that I was one of the first of the "crew" to befriend Nick back in the 80's. 
We went through a lot of good and bad times together. 
It makes very sad that we weren't as close in the last few years as we used to be. 
Nick was one of those rare guys that no matter what life dealt him, he always pulled through, no matter what. He always took care of business. He was a loyal friend and family man, a protective big brother to Chad, a great son to big Nick, and I will really miss him. 
LOTS of memories. I really wished I could have talked to you one last time before you left bro, but I know you can hear me now and I know I will see you again one day. 
And until that day comes keep the foosh table warmed up for me man.

Though I did not know him except when he was a baby, I know his Daddy, Robert Wayne, knew his grandmother, Mattie Lou, and many others in the family it really saddens me to know of his early passing.
