Betty Solar Murphy

A native of White Castle and resident of Monroe, she passed away October 8, 2011 at the age of 79. She is survived by children, Jenny Reed and husband, Mike, Cathy Miller and husband, Leo, Paula Ray and husband, Tony, David Murphy and wife, Kecia; grandchildren, Megan, Michaela and Samantha Reed, Kayla Lee and husband, Jake, Jason Thompson, Brian Ray and wife, Brandi, Andrew Ray, Josh Murphy and wife, Nikki, Leslie Andrews and husband, Jeremiah; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Solar, Neg Solar, C.J. Solar, Jimmy Solar, Dickie Solar; sisters, Rita Zeringue, Lois Clement, Evelyn McIntyre; and a host of nieces, nephews, and her extended family at Lake Passman Senior Community. Preceded in death by father, Spaulding F. Solar; mother, Violet Petty; brother, Lloyd Solar; sister, Jerry Sue Lofton; and granddaughter, Brooke Reed. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Monday, October 10, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home Tuesday October 11, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Carpenter’s Chapel Cemetery, Galvez.
