

Billy Wendell Raybon was born December 15, 1935 and passed away on October 25, 2023. A beloved brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in his home in Prairieville, LA.
Born and raised in Luverne, AL, moved to Baton Rouge, LA in April 1952, Billy lived a full life with family, friends and fun! He was a generous man, a hard worker and a man of many talents. He used his job skill sets for many years until he took a job at Texaco as a warehouseman. He moved up the ladder until he landed Assistant Terminal Manager and eventually retired after 29 years of service in 1993.
Billy Raybon was an entrepreneur with many ideas. In 1975 he bought a piece of property on Swamp Road, and turned it into Raybon’s Village, “The Mobile Home Court”. Which he and his sons built from the ground up. Then came Raybon’s Pet Memorial Gardens, an intimate place for people to put their pets to rest. If you knew Billy, he truly always did it HIS WAY.
Billy Raybon took part in many extracurricular activities. Gonzales Boat Club is where he spent many weekends on the river with friends and family. He loved BOATING on his party barge, the LOVE BOAT TOO, going out to eat, bar hoping, having company over and visiting Las Palmas on Wednesday nights.
Billy was the former husband of Delores Landry, the late Carolyn Poche’ and the late Audrey Campbell. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ethel Raybon; siblings Joe Ferrell Raybon, Edna Ruth May, H.L. “Pete” Raybon and “George” Reginald Raybon.
Billy is survived by his sons Wendell (Stacie), Jeffre (Tonya), Billy Brewer, Rocky Henson, daughter Lisa Metcalf; stepchildren Cindy Campbell, Kim Campbell, Sonny Campbell (Joann), and Tracy Campbell; sisters Juanita Tanner, Barbara Newton (Chunks); a very special friend Sue, grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, La 70737 on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 9:00AM till 11:30AM. A Celebration of Billy’s Life will begin at 11:30AM. He will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wendell Raybon, Jeffre Raybon, Herbie Bourgeois, Alex, Minney and Sonny Campbell. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Raybon family.
