John Brett Baker, a son, father and grandfather passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 63, surrounded by his family. Brett worked in Industrial fastener sales for most of his life and was currently employed with the Dan-Loc Group at their Gonzales, Louisiana office. He was very confident and successful in his career and in his personal life.
Also known as “BFB”, and at work “Brett the Bolt Man Baker”, he loved to cook every weekend, watching LSU and The Saints, and being a father and grandfather. His favorite place to be the pool house, where he would cook, spend time with friends and family and watch the game. He loved joking around with his brother-in-law, Tony Smith, and making his company laugh and leave full. Brett will be missed by his many friends that cooked with him at the yearly Turkey Fry celebrations in the fall, by all the clients that followed him wherever he worked and most of all by his entire family that loved him dearly.
Brett is survived by his mother, Barbara “Bobby” Baker, his son Brandon Baker, his daughter in law Kristin Baker, his two Granddaughters, Finley Baker and Elowen Baker; and his nephew (brother Bob’s son), Beau Baker.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lena and Peter Corrent, his brother Bob Baker and his sister Brandy Lynn Baker.
The family wants to extend their appreciation for the care Brett received by the entire staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. We also want to thank Father Sam that prayed with us every day and performed the Catholic Last Rights prayers.
A celebration of Life will be held for family, friends and co-workers on September 12,2026 from 10:00am - 2:00 pm at the Baker Compound.
