We are so grateful for the time and service chief James showed to Apple Tree Daycare. Every year that I reached out for fire prevention week, he would come or make sure he was well represented. These memories we will cherish forever.

My heartfelt condolences to Mrs Karen and family and the entire fire department family. I met Chief Bo last November when I worked as an election commissioner and he was so nice and very funny 😊. What will stick with me, is how patient he was with my grandson who was visiting from out of state and wanted to see the fire trucks. Ayden was so excited and I think Chief Bo was too! Rest in peace, and to his family, I pray God will bring you peace during this time and your memories will bring you comfort.

What a great man who had an infections smile, kindness, a listening ear, non-judge mental advice and willingness to teach Fire Protection and Firefighter Safety to many hundreds of people over the years. He always seemed like a friend and father figure first, and Fire Chief second. Chief Bo and Karen have hundreds of surrogate sons and daughters all over the great Parish of Ascension. He will be greatly missed. Most important of all to me….I am honored to say he was my friend and I loved him like a big brother.

My most heart felt sympathy goes to Ms. Karen and all of the James family. 

Chief was one of the best to ever do it. He never met a stranger, and he served from his heart. 

I pray God will grant you peace, and He comforts you all.

The first time my husband and I met, Mr. James was through 911 calls to the fire department. He was very comforting and very sweet. I would like to everyone at the Galvez Fire Department for everything they do. God Bless Mr. James and his family.  Sincerely the Hebert family.

You will always hold a place in my heart and be dear to Lakeside Terrace Subdivision. I remember the first time meeting you when you jumped out your truck and left it running in the middle of my street when you ran into the bushes at the end of my street. Who knew that day I would meet a great friend despite all that was going on around us with the wildfires. You kept calm and it gave me peace in knowing that Galvez Fire Dept was camped out in my yard to protect and serve. I will miss you Mr. Bo and Mrs. Karen I will always love you for sharing him with our community.

Our condolences to the family and prayers. Bo was a good man. I enjoyed working with him at Atmos energy. He actually was there for my mother when she passed away for the fire department and I remember him like yesterday. It was such a pleasure knowing him he actually made, coming to work in enjoyable what a good person and great memories. Prayers to the family.

I was a member of the Galvez Lake VFD  over 5 years And I could never get his name right so IJust called him Chief, and to me that's what he was and will always be in my heart my Chief and my Brother.. He always made sure I was taking care of when we would have get together he would always send me home with more food and after call out we would go back to the station and drink coffee  Or go eat breakfast at Fred's or go get donuts in Gonzales together and we was always doing things together.. We have lost more than a chief we have lost a friend and a brother.. Rest in peace my brother I will see you on the other side of the line.

Mr Bo was first introduced to us when he came to check on my daughter after she went completely white, and passed out.  Every time he was around our house he would stop by and check on Bella.  He would intentionally come by and see if she was out playing soccer in the yard.  We then started volunteering during the holidays with Mr. Bo and his wife Karen.  We would help with food drives and whatever else they could use us for.  He didn’t only impact my oldest, Bella but my other 3 as well.  He took us all on a Fire Truck ride, which my 3 youngest was amazed.  He would always have a smile on his face, I have never seen him not.  He was also there when my 2nd was in a real lock down at the school, and when I showed up a ways down from the school, he was there and knew exactly who I was and began to comfort me the best he could.  It was like he knew I needed a hug from him.  He will be greatly missed, but I hope Mrs. Karen and her family know she can still call on us when she has needs of help.

I am so sorry for the loss that you, your family, your fire department, and community must be feeling.  I remember the first time that I met you and Chief Bo at the LSU game as we were working the same section, and continued to work together for many years.  We started out as acquaintances  and became friends.   Bo was a ray of light to everyone that he met.  He was always smiling and enjoying himself.  I am very appreciative of knowing you both for so many years now.  Even if we had not seen each other for a while, I always knew that I could call on yall for anything, and you could call on me. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to be y'all's friend.

There are quite a few stories I could tell about Bo from the short time I had the privilege of knowing him. 

First time I met Bo he gave me the nickname Bigfoot. Now, it feels like half the parish's first responders call me Bigfoot or at least know who that nickname refers to. Whether or not it was intended to do so, the nickname went a long way in helping me feel welcomed. Thinking about me on vacation and brining me back a keychain was awesome! As you know, Mrs. Karen, that keychain stays with me.

My favorite story of Chief Bo is from Rock the Country. It was long and hot and smiling was not something too many people were doing a lot of. Chief and I want walking one of the afternoons looking for guitar picks. He was excited to find one that had been thrown into the crowd by one of the major artist. He smiled and we kept walking. We ran into a couple of the security guards for one of the artist. Chief wanted to get a Galvez challenge coin to that artist but the security guards said they didn't know if they could do that. Chief looked a bit disappointed, but then one of them pulled a challenge coin from his bag and offered to trade with Bo. Bo immediately lit up with a huge smile. His excitement was contagious. As we walked back to the medical tent I told him I needed a photo and that's the photo I have posted. I remember us getting back and Bo going around to everyone he found telling them about his new coin. I will never forget how happy he was. It was so cool to witness. 

I will greatly miss hearing him on the radio, talking to him while he has his coffee at District 1, and hearing him call me Bigfoot. 

I'm very thankful for having been able to work alongside him.

Bo was an amazing person. First met Bo when he came to my rescue when my house caught fire from getting hit by lightning and he almost fell through my livingroom ceiling. And again when my other house got hit by lightning. And was a great neighbor 3 driveways away. My husband would walk over to go visit every now and then. He really enjoyed his talks with Bo. He surely will be missed.

My nephew was so excited when Mr Bo let him get on the fire truck. ❤️
