Charles Everett Bishop

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He went on to build a long and dedicated career as a maintenance supervisor for Chevron Chemical, retiring after many years of hard work.

Charlie was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA, and a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

Those who knew Charlie knew him for his amazing sense of humor — he never missed a chance to crack a joke and bring a smile to someone’s face. He had a well-earned reputation for having a serious sweet tooth, and he took great pride in tending to his yard and garden. In his quieter moments, he could always be found settled in with a good western — whether on the screen or in a novel. He lived a long, full life and was well loved by many.

Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Shanks Bishop, and his second wife, Willa Mire Aldridge Bishop. He is survived by his four children, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and ten stepchildren: C. Michael (Mike) Bishop and his wife Lou Ann Bishop; their children, Dru Bishop (son, Preston) and Jessica Stuart and her husband Christian Stuart (children, Kingston and Elle); Lynn Perkins and her husband, Robert Perkins; their daughters, Laurie Hebert and Terri Bickham and her husband, Mark Bickham (children, Sarah and Matthew); Joyce (Jo) Poche and her husband, Thomas Poche; their children, Denise Simoneaux and her husband, Kevin Simoneaux (children, Claire and Asher), Alicia Poche, and Greg Poche and his wife, Megan Poche (son, Liam); and Kenneth (Kenny) Bishop and his wife, Katherine Bishop; their son, Chase Bishop and his wife, Kristin Bishop (son, Ronan).

Pallbearers will be Dru Bishop, Greg Poche, Chase Bishop, Kevin Simoneaux, Gregory Aldridge, Jeffrey Aldridge, and Christian Stuart. Honorary Pallbearers will be Macky Aldridge, John Aldridge, Tommy Aldridge, Randall Aldridge, Michael Aldridge and Darnell Martinez.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers, Danielle Jones and Kandie Skidmore, as well as Shontal, Lacey and the staff of Pinnacle Hospice for their compassionate care.

Service details: St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, LA, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by Mass, burial, and a bereavement meal in the Activity Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made out to the American Heart Association.
